There is a cartrigdge lock for the four toners located on the right side of the printer where the mechanism pops out to engage drive with the toners. It is very common to find this arm broken or the hair pin spring that runs along the bottom side of this arm missing. As the transfer is being closed the arm drops down to lock the right side of the cartridge into place, with a broken arm the cartridge may not position or ground properly causing many different types of 10.xx.xx errors. The suggested replacement if one of the arms/springs are broken or missing is the Cartridge Lock Kit. HP Part# Q5982-67925 "Directions included with part".

 

Also, it is VERY important to install correctly. All gears need to be in place and seated in position. One gear tooth off could set a 10.xx error.
